Perched approximately 65 feet above sea level along the shore of Northeast Harbor, this home was designed to not only capture the views of the ocean, but to also resist its harsh elements. The entire outside perimeter was constructed using an insulated concrete form system. Not only is this system very energy efficient, it is also extremely effective at sound attenuation. The exterior wall finish is a natural hydraulic lime mixed with stone. This was all capped off with a Vermont green slate roof. The copper clad windows are surrounded with the same Vermont green slate. This all adds up to a very attractive, yet durable exterior. The majority of the interior consists of beech hardwood flooring, straight grain fir trim work and paneling, and some Vermont green slate flooring. There were several trim details we cut custom knives for to match profiles the designer and owner had seen in their travels to England. |
