Commercial Projects - Hancock County Court and Jail

The rugged site conditions were clearly the most challenging part of this project. Situated on ledge which sloped steeply towards Leonard’s Lake, yet closely adjacent to the existing courthouse, originally constructed in 1886, this was definitely a site unlike any other.

With demanding projects come imaginative solutions. The majority of the construction took place in the winter months. Since the structural system was cast-in-place concrete and interior walls were masonry, keeping everything warm and dry was a priority. For those purposes we set up our pressurized dome tent which allowed us to work productively throughout the winter months.

Some of the interesting features of the facility are the parking lot beneath the main building, the indoor and outdoor exercise areas and the latest in security technology.
